Since last Friday I have guided 6 groups on the water. We caught fish of all species, but we also saw a lot of fish through the clear water in multiple lakes. There is no better time to see muskies than right now. They are everywhere! Remember, you can't target them until the muskie season begins on June 1st.
Here are the takeaways from my fishing marathon this weekend: Walleyes are consistently hanging out in 8’-14’. If you troll through these areas you will likely see multiple pods scatter as you approach. To avoid spooking them, consider staging your boat a casting distance away from your target area and cast a bobber and leech or jig and a minnow toward the fish. Pike can be found in 10’-12’ right now, and bass are scattered anywhere from 2’-12’. All species are relating to weeds currently, from shallow bull rush to long cabbage. Use your eyes to spot this structure, and then set up camp!
Save yourself a headache and avoid Pelican during The F-M Walleyes Pelican Lake Spring Classic Tournament which goes from Thursday at 4:00 pm until Saturday at 6:00 pm.Â
Good luck and thanks for reading!
