Detroit Lakes Fishing Report: Extended Edition (11/3/26)

My boat is officially put away for the year, and I’m good with that. This is the stretch where I get to slow down and spend real time with my family and my pets. If you’re hanging it up too, enjoy it, because ice fishing season is right around the corner and I’m very excited for it.

To you diehards still on the water, kudos to you. Walleyes are shallow right now. This time of year they tend to end up right back where they started the open water season, near the first breaklines closest to shore, so start there before you burn time searching deep.

Muskies are hungry, so keep your eyes open and your drag set. Trolling a slip bobber is a great way to go after them right now. The trolling motor lets you cover water at a slow, steady pace, and the slip bobber keeps your bait hanging at the exact depth you set instead of dragging bottom. Slow and steady wins with fall muskies.

Docks are out on most lakes, so pack your waders and dress warm. Be safe out there.
