Detroit Lakes Fishing Report: Expanded Edition (6/10/25)

Welcome to your Detroit Lakes Fishing Report! This expanded edition is only found on the Baxstar Fishing website, and it includes more tips and insights, plus special deals that we offer to our customers.

The water is warming up in area lakes, and the fishing should continue to improve this week.  The bass, pike, and panfish bite has been excellent and, as the water continues to surpass 65° in area lakes, the walleye bite will get even better.  Leeches and small-medium minnows on a jig, spinner, or beneath a slip bobber are your best bite for ‘eyes, while plastics and artificial lures are catching all species right now.  Bass, panfish and walleye are in the shallow weeds primarily, in 6'-10'. Walleye have also moved to slightly deeper flats and toward sharp breaklines so it is smart to explore depths ranging from 6' to 16' (some anglers report finding them as deep as 22'). Pike are biting aggressively in 10’-20' in areas with more sporadic weed growth.
