Thank you for reading the Detroit Lakes fishing report! Here is the scoop. Walleyes can be found anywhere from 16’ to 30’ right now. Jigging raps, jigs, plus live bait and spinner rigs with a minnow or a leech are your best bets. I am patiently waiting for the jig/minnow combo to hit full steam, and it’s worth trying each day you go out, from now on. The bluegill bite has been nothing short of incredible! You can find them in any depth but we’ve been catching the biggest ‘gills on a dropshot or a slip bobber tipped with a small/medium leech in 20’-30’. The old saying is “hand size, pan size”, and that’s exactly what you’ll find in deeper water. Largemouth bass are still biting on minnows and leeches just outside weeklines in 13’ to as deep as 22’ and you will catch pike in that range, too. Some of the best fishing of the year is around the corner so keep the boat out of storage and stay tuned. Good luck everyone, and tight lines!
