Detroit Lakes Fishing Report (7/23/24)

If you can stand the hot and muggy weather, you will likely get rewarded out on the water right now!  Walleye have moved to their typical summer depth, from 18’-22’ and the spinner and leech bite has been on fire in those same depths.  We’ve also had luck trolling minnows for large walleye on the inside of shallow weedlines in depths from 4’-8’.  Bass can be found in a wide range of depths, too.  We’ve been focusing on midlake weeds in the 8’ range and there has been no reason for us to search elsewhere!  Those same weeds have produced over 100 crappies for our customers in the past week as well-most of which were released.  Please remember, when the fishing is this good, it is important to be selective in what you keep.  The daily limit is the maximum you can keep, but keeping less today means catching more tomorrow. Let’s keep the fish populations healthy for years to come!
