Detroit Lakes Fishing Report (7/1/25)

Welcome to the Expanded Detroit Lakes Fishing Report! I share a little more insider info in this edition, compared to other places I publish the report. If you are new, you picked the right week to start reading.  The best fishing of the summer is happening right now!

All species are biting, on every lake I’ve fished over the past week.  You’ll find them in 8’-16’, both in and outside the weeds.  Small/medium minnows, leeches, and crawlers are all good choices. We've caught them on jigs, dropshots, and slip bobber presentations.  If you get into ‘em, go ahead and try any new presentations, plastics or lures in your tackle box to test them out–there isn’t a better time.  Largemouth bass have been voracious in dense weeds and on the edge of weedlines in as deep as 12’. Plastics and medium minnows are working equally well.  We’ve had some 50+ bass days already this week on my boat and they were a blast!  Pike are munching on panfish in 10’-14’, with reports of people landing fish up to 40” in the area.  Finally, muskies are very active right now, even attacking lures multiple times!  For those that know, give the Cowgirl a break and unleash the Bull Dawg. Bright colors are always a good choice.  Good luck everyone, and thanks for reading. Happy 4th of July!
