The walleye bite has steadily gotten better over the past week. Look for ‘eyes near shore, at the first break into deeper water. Shallow weedlines are still holding walleye but you will also find them outside these weedlines, from 10’-15 (you will also find plenty of smaller pike in those depths). Area anglers have had luck with a variety of presentations, from jigs and lindy rigs tipped with minnows, to leeches beneath a bobber. Leeches may attract nice ‘gills, too. We are still finding bass in 2’-4’ amongst emerging reeds and lily pads but there has been a noticeable shift to shallow weed lines in 8’-10’. Texas rigs and ned rigs tipped with green pumpkin, watermelon/red flake, and blue & white plastics have produced the majority of bass caught on our boat. Be prepared for muskies chasing your bait on DL or Pelican, which is always fun to see! Just remember you can’t target them until June 1st. Thanks for reading and good luck!
