Walleyes, and pike, and bass, oh my! You’ll find them all in a variety of depths right now, as deep as 30’. My customers and I have had the most luck casting medium to large minnows on the lightest jig possible in 10’-15’ over the past week and we will continue to use this setup until the end of the open water season. Keep looking for schools of fish on your electronics, to help guide you. Start your search near midlake structure, if available on your lake of choice. Night owls are being rewarded with big walleyes now, more than ever. Most of the ‘eyes caught on my boat have been after sunset, as late as 8:30 pm. Speaking of big fish, muskies are chasing big, slow moving baits currently. 10’-18’ is a good place to start, near weeds, but you may also find them chasing deep schools of baitfish. Both big plastics and big sucker minnows are excellent options right now. Good luck fishing this week!
