Lakes are freezing over, and it is happening fast, which is a good reason to be excited! I have heard reports of people venturing out onto the ice, so I really want to stress the importance of patience. While there may be 3”–4” on parts of certain lakes, that does not account for inconsistencies in the ice. Please give it a few more days before you consider walking out on any area lake. The truth is, some lakes will have ice thick enough and consistent enough to safely walk on by this weekend. I will personally be doing ice reports and publishing them on my social media accounts over the weekend, and I will report my findings in next week’s report. So get that gear in your sled and put it in the back of the truck. The ice fishing season is just days away!

❄️ Now is the time to book an ice fishing trip!

This year, I will be running 4 Ice Castle sleeper houses, plus 2 day houses, for single day rentals. And, as usual, I will be offering fully guided ice fishing trips on Detroit Lake and other lakes in the area. Contact me if you'd like to set something up, or simply click on the rental or service shown below to see availability and prices. Thanks for reading--I hope to see you out on the ice this Winter!
